The number of CTC populations present in patient blood is very low, therefore the usefulness of CTC assessments depends on accurate cell counts and the corresponding analysis of molecular targets. The natural degradation of blood samples can mean these rare populations are lost. TransFix stabilizes blood samples at the time of collection and has been shown to significantly extend the integrity of cells within the sample allowing for downstream enrichment and enumeration of CTC's.
