MBLI is looking for a Laboratory Scientist in Des Plaines, Illinois. This position is responsible for carrying out standard operating procedures to ensure manufactured products meet the highest quality standards as directed by our Quality Management System. The Laboratory Scientist will manufacture various biological reagents as part of the MHC product line.

Essential Job Functions and Duties:

  • Perform laboratory processes involved in the manufacture and quality control of proteins, flow cytometry reagents and related kits.
  • Protein Purification Techniques utilizing the AKTA FPLC.
  • Protein analysis techniques utilizing HPLC, spectrophotometry, and SDS-PAGE.
  • Cell Culture and aseptic technique
  • Cellular analysis by cell staining and Flow Cytometry.
  • Utilization of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Adhere to the Quality Management Systems and Quality Policies
  • Complete required documentation and batch records in a clear and timely fashion.
  • Contribute to projects that support department and company goals.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Perform incoming inspection of raw materials.
  • Order and stock supplies as needed.
  • Clean work areas and dispose of biohazard or other waste materials appropriately.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and requirements

Minimum Qualifications of the Position:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, biology, chemistry, biochemistry or closely related field.

Experience:

  • Two years of experience in protein purification and analysis.
  • Prior MHC production experience and/or experience in immunology and immuno-oncology is desirable
  • Experience in flow cytometry is desirable.
  • Experience with AKTA FPLC is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to speak and write English well and clearly communicate specific principles in English.
  • Ability to follow instructions, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Good computer skills – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good manual dexterity and ability to stand and work at a lab bench.

  • Ability to follow routine manufacturing processes without mistake or alterations.
