Background: 

Centromere protein H (CENP-H/ICEN35), a 33 kDa protein, is a component of the centromere specific chromatin complex in interphase, called CENP-A chromatin or ICEN1), and forms basis for the inner-kinetochore plate in metaphase. CENP-H is essential for the kinetochore function of equal segregation of daughter chromosomes.
