Additional Information

Anti-γ-Catenin (Plakoglobin) mAb Specifications

Background:gamma-Catenin, also known as plakoglobin is highly homologous to -catenin that interacts with cadherins to mediate cell-cell adhesion and associates with LEF/TCF family to regulate the expression of genes that are involved in cell fate determination and cell proliferation. The role of -catenin differs from that of -catenin. -Catenin has been implicated in potentiating hyperproliferation and tumor formation, where it has been suggested that -catenin can suppress tumorigenicity. Over expression of -catenin has been shown to suppress cell proliferation and cell tumorigenicity in experimental animals. Also, reduced -catenin expression has been reported in tumor tissues and metastatic lesions of renal cells, esophageal carcinomas and in skin carcinomas.
