| Background: | Muscle Integrin Binding Protein (MIBP) is a recently identified protein that binds to the cytoplasmic portion of ï¢1 integrins and regulates cell adhesion and laminin matrix deposition. MIBP expression levels are critical to the regulation of myogenic differentiation. MIBP expression is dramatically downregulated during differentiation, while overexpression of MIBP suppresses differentiation of myogenic cells. MIBP also induces the expression and activation of paxillin, a focal adhesion adaptor protein involved in actin-membrane attachment to the extracellular matrix. |
