Anti-SLC17A7/VGLUT1 polyclonal antibody Trial size
Code No: BMP078B
Gene/antigen ID number:
57030
Background:
The amino acid glutamate is the main excitatory neurotransmitter stored in the synaptic vesicles. The excitatory neurons release glutamate by exocytosis into the synaptic cleft in response to neuronal stimulation. The solute carrier family 17 (SLC17) belongs to the vesicular glutamate transporter family, which is involved in the accumulation of glutamate in synaptic vesicles. SLC17A7/VGLUT1 is predominantly expressed in the brain. Glutamatergic neurotransmission is drastically impaired in neurons of mice lacking the slc17a7 gene. After weaning, the mice show a progressive neurologic phenotype including blindness, uncoordination, and an enhanced startle response.

Formulation:
100 uL volume of PBS containing 50% glycerol, pH 7.2. No preservative is contained.
Reactivity:
This antibody can be used to stain endogenous antigen in paraffin embedded human tissues including the liver and cerebrum by Immunohistochemistry. The reactivity has been confirmed by Immunocytochemistry and intracellular Flow cytometry to detect the full length of human SLC17A5 transiently expressed in HEK 293T cells.
Intended Use:
For Research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedure.
