RIboTrap Kit : A novel tool to study regulatory components of mRNA of interest

Abstract

Post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression plays important roles in most cellular processes such as development and metabolism as well as many diseases such as cancer. RIP-Chip and RIP-Seq have been widely used to identify the functionally related mRNAs by taking the advantage of RNA binding proteins (RBPs) and their specific antibodies. Besides these tools, a discovery approach based on complementary binding of RNA is also required to characterize RBPs assembled on any RNA of interest. RiboTrap employs 5-bromo-UTP (BrU) labeled RNA as ‘bait’ and a BrdU antibody for immunnoprecipitation to identify RBPs that are associated with the RNA of interest such as mRNA.
